For over 5 years on Tuesday nights, Bounce Rock Skate was the premiere soul event in Los Angeles, being one of the first events to feature and promote the burgeoning “Neo-Soul” movement. With an intimate outdoor setting which artists such as Kindred, Sy Smith, Kim Hill, The Rebirth, Keite Young, Yolanda Johnson were mainstays, while the DJ’s featured the latest releases in the nu-soul movement and lost urban classics. BRS was the first to bring out DJ Spinna before his L.A. presence was recognized and hosted release parties for notable artists such as Meshell N’DegeOcello.
